I still remember the first night I finished a companion quest in Honkai: Star Rail and sat staring at the screen, not because of Stellar Jade, but because the story had quietly cracked me open. In 2026, with new worlds and new faces behind me, I went back to Belobog and the Xianzhou Luofu. The missions were still there, waiting like old letters. I expected a few lighthearted detours and a pile of rewards. Instead, I found loneliness, family, pseudoscience, class anxiety, and a robot learning what it means to be alive. These are the stories that stayed with me after I moved on, and here is how I remember them now.

10. From Xianzhou, With Love

I felt uncomfortable with Wen Furui almost immediately. His obsession with the fantasy of a Foxian woman is not cute; it is a warning sign. But that discomfort is exactly why the quest worked on me. It unpacks loneliness in an advanced society, where people buy parasocial relationships because they have nothing else to hold. I did not agree with the catfishing or the scamming, and I still do not. Yet I understood the ache underneath it: being socially outcast, being lonely, and wanting someone to answer. That is a heavier story than its title suggests.

9. Origin of Medicine

Natasha’s companion quest is one of the best because it shows how much she cares about the Underworld. She cares even when people ignore her medical advice. She cares even when patients turn against her for a quick fix. What she refuses to accept is pseudoscience and alternative medicine that does more harm than good. I also learned more about her past and why a woman from privilege became a doctor in the Underworld. It made me respect her not as a healer archetype, but as a person making hard choices.

8. You Already Know Me

This one felt like Honkai: Star Rail’s take on Gossip Girl, except it happens on a space station and involves public misappropriation of funds. I laughed at Asta’s rich-astrologer spending habits, and I enjoyed the extra background on her. But the twist at the end is what made it stick. It is hinted at so subtly that I did not see it coming, and when it landed, I had to sit back and laugh. If you have not finished it yet, you are in for a good time.

7. Blizzard Immunity

Blizzard Immunity finishes what Origin of Medicine starts. After the Underworld is unsealed, I travel with Natasha to visit her parents, who she has been separated from for a decade. It is a heartwarming reunion, and it is well deserved. But it is also a story about closure and what was lost. Bittersweet is the right word. At least Natasha finally gets to close that chapter of her life once and for all.

6. Time Express

Serval is brilliant, flighty, and hungry for discovery. So when she asks if she can join the Astral Express, it makes perfect sense. Welt and Himeko are welcoming, and for a moment it feels like traveling with Serval is only a few steps from reality. Then Bronya makes her own offer, and the road forks. I came to see who would miss Serval and what memories she would leave behind in Jarilo-VI. That is the quiet pain of the quest: wanting someone to stay while knowing they need to go.

5. Old Foreman’s Treasure

Old Foreman’s Treasure is the game’s spin on the old idea that money cannot buy happiness. I followed Hook, the brave captain of the Moles, as she tried to retrieve and repair her father’s Geomarrow Detector. In the end, her father explains that the detector is not his greatest treasure. His treasure is alive and well. That is all that matters. I rested easy knowing Hook and her father have a healthy, loving relationship, even if they do not have a lot.

4. Hook’s Gift

Hook’s Gift continues that story and gives Hook more background. I learned that she was adopted, and that her father only appreciated birthdays after he adopted her. We go on a wild ride to find him a gift, including a bidding war. But the best part is seeing that Hook, for all her rambunctiousness, is a good kid. She has integrity. She cares about the people around her, even if she gets shy about saying it out loud.

3. Only A Child

After Time Express, Gepard tells me he will support his sister’s decision no matter what. He will miss her, though, and he wants her to think things through before leaving their home planet. I have thought about leaving my own country once or twice, but moving from ships to planets is no joke. The best thing about this quest is seeing how much the siblings care for each other even after taking different paths. Serval has unresolved pain and feels the need to run. With Gepard, I help give her the courage to face it.

2. Rarely Affectionate

Robots do not have feelings, according to Svarog, except for a once-in-a-lifetime anomaly in Belobog. So when Pascal gains sentience, everyone is surprised, even Clara. This little robot tried to fix Rivet Town after residents fled because of the Fragmentum. The quest is not just about repairing a malfunctioning robot and choosing its fate. It made me feel for Pascal, and it made me appreciate the dynamic between Clara and Svarog. Even when Svarog rules that Pascal will be difficult to maintain, he respects Clara’s wishes and wants what is best for her as family.

1. To: The Faint Star

Rocky Martinez is a researcher in Herta’s Space Station, and he is very much in love with Lesley. Bernard thinks Rocky should focus on his studies instead of chasing someone who has not responded in a long time, so Bernard takes matters into his own hands. The mission gives me a blue pill or red pill situation, and whatever I choose, I think at that moment that it is for Rocky’s own good. If I choose the red truth, I most likely have the Bye, Herta poem on my shelf. I would not see this love-struck researcher for a long time, if ever again. Still, it is nice to see that there are people willing to fight the ebbs and flows of time for another person.

In 2026, I still think about these missions more than I think about most rewards. They are not great only because they give Stellar Jade and Credits. They are great because they give me more information about characters I love, their relationships, and the cultures of the worlds I have traveled through. 🎮 Some stories are lighthearted. Some are heavier than expected. All of them stay with me long after the trail moves on.
